Time Is A Two-Way Street

"When writing my short fiction pieces Shadows of Jade, Colors of Sanctity and Blame It on the Sandals, I became aware that time on Jade is not linear but past, present and future co-exist. And it's possible to move from one dimension to another at will. This has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, you can readily escape from life-threatening situations. But on the other hand, you're in danger of meeting yourself at a stage of your existence where you'd prefer not to. Do we really want to know what we're going to look like when we're very old? Will we feel comfortable if we come into contact with our infant selves?"

Time on Jade is a two-way street;
A never-ending cycle of confusion
There's no escape from past or future.
No linear progression leads you comfortably
From past to present, forward to the future
Your fear pursues you back and forth
With dread you'll meet your future face -
Like parchment scribbled on by infant hand.
Then dimpled fingers tap you on the shoulder;
A voice informs you: "Here you were."
And while you haunt an individual's dreams
He creeps through your reality
Like dirty water in a gutter,
Soiling your past and besmirching your future.
