Dull sandscape
no landmarks in sight
just a salt licker
squirmy flicker
in the sunlight

Calm vermin
ponders his prey
fickle rainbow asp
sluggish to grasp
won't get away

Stupid serpent
camouflage amiss
widens his eyes
in earnest surprise
by vermin's kiss...

A dull sandscape
no landmarks in view
just a fattened fool
stretched in the cool
of desert dew

Bird of prey
soars high overhead
spreads its outline
blocking sunshine
from vermin's bed

Stupid vermin
caution forgotten
recent winners
make fine dinners
talon brought in...

A dull sandscape
no landmarks per se
just a darkened smear
sweeps far and near
this desert day
