BUILDING A BOWERbyWordmate © 11/21/07 Unrestricted Club Use
"Gon, who featured in my short story, Perfecting the Art, needs to build a bower to shelter him while he perfects the art of creating crop circles. In this poem he describes by numbers how he does it. After all, you never know when you’ll need to make one...."
Seven shades of foliage
Make my hiding-place: A shelter from the elements And pricking, prying eyes. Six strands of living branches Curve to make the frame; Five lengths of dead wood Support the arching roof. Four sheaves of twigs and reeds Are woven in and out; Three times twisted round and through, Their ends are neatly tied. Two gleaming eyes can see you But yours cannot see me Crouching on the one good floor Of seven mossy layers.... |
