Sam's Dot publishes JoSelle Vanderhooft's findings

Sandy, UT [SDP] -- Sam's Dot Publishing announced on 1 October 2007 the official release of JoSelle Vanderhooft's outstanding speculative poetry collection, Ossuary.  The poems in this perfect bound trade paperback were inspired by the art of Erzebet YellowBoy, whose color artpieces are also featured with the poems they inspired.  Although none of the poems appear to be related to flightless birds, these pieces of speculative fantasy take the reader on a journey through time and space and portals without having to leave the comfort of a Lay-Zee-Poet.

From the bittersweet bonding in "Puck in the Garden" to the rich genealogy of "Her Scent Is In Me," Vanderhooft explores the deepest meanings of human life as they relate to hopes, desires, and catastrophes.  Ossuary is a ---

The Laundry Mat

by Michael Stauffer

Sitting alone in the laundry mat

while my clothes tumble in the dryer,

spinning continuously before me

colors swirling, merging, mesmerizing me.

Laundry Mat begins to change

fantasy mixes with reality.

Children searching the floor for fallen quarters

become fairies and elves, mischief dancing in their eyes

Whino sleeping on the bench

his brown bagged bottle

clutched tightly to his chest

becomes a wise old sage, his bottle now a bag of magicks

Young mother folding her family's clothes

keeping a watchful eye on her fairies and elves

radiates beauty

transforming into a beautiful princess

preparing for her coronation.

The roar of the dryers

echoing the roar of a hundred dragons

washers spinning, shrieking,

the cries of spirits seeking to enter this world

My dryer stops, a dragon falls silent.

Underwear still damp, not too clean.

Back to reality

sitting alone in the laundry mat.
